Alex Savino
Alexandra (she/her) studies astrophysics and mechanical engineering at Columbia University. Actively engaged in astrophysics research at Columbia, she has contributed to projects in high-energy astrophysics, astronomical instrumentation, and computational astrophysics. Her achievements include consistently making the dean's list and winning first place at Columbia Physics’ 2022 research competition, with the project selected as payload for a NASA-funded satellite through Columbia’s Space Initiative Club.
Alexandra has had a diverse tutoring background since high school, covering subjects from French to Calculus. Currently, as the head tutor at her college’s physics help room, she specializes in mechanics, excelling in classical mechanics, solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, and more. Alexandra finds immense joy in tutoring, driven by a passion for making learning enjoyable and engaging. Her teaching philosophy revolves around a style that incorporates movement, playfulness, and fun, aiming to make abstract concepts tangible and applicable. Alexandra's favorite subjects to teach are introductory mechanics and calculus. Witnessing students delve into these subjects for the first time, she finds immense excitement in guiding them as they conceptualize math and reshape their understanding of the world in a completely new way.
