Catherine Liu
Catherine graduated from NYU Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development with degrees in Childhood, Early Childhood, and Special Education and a minor in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Studies. She received the Ida Bodman Service Award and the NYU Leadership and Service Award in 2019. Catherine was a member of the Kappa Delta Pi, president of Asian Heritage Month (AHM) at NYU, director of New York City Asian American Student Conference (NYCAASC), and a mentoring coordinator for Education Policy Network at Wagner NYU.
She is a full-time elementary school special education teacher with 5 years of experience. As a teacher, Catherine has worked extensively, delivering instruction to students with various needs and interests. Before teaching for the Department of Education, Catherine taught Mandarin at China Institute for 7 years to toddlers and up to 5th-grade students.
As a coach at Connect To Learn, Catherine is excited about working with students and supporting growth in their everyday and academic skills, creating new routines that will positively influence their lives.
Outside of work and teaching, Catherine enjoys exploring the city, playing volleyball, playing musical instruments, and doing archery.
