Our Team

Dylan Kapit

Dylan (they/them) is currently in a PhD program in special education at the School of Education at the University of Pittsburgh, where they are writing their doctoral dissertation on autistic focused sex education. They have a BA in psychology and education from Barnard College of Columbia University and an MA in special education from Teachers College of Columbia University.

Dylan has always loved teaching and has been tutoring since they were old enough to do so. Between graduating from college and starting their doctorate, Dylan taught elementary special education in Manhattan. It’s been their dream to be a special educator ever since they were a little kid, and they especially love working with autistic and neurodivergent individuals. As an autistic and neurodivergent person, Dylan understands the importance of having strong executive functioning skills, and loves helping other people build theirs. Their favorite subject to teach is elementary/middle school math.

When they are not working on their dissertation, Dylan leads their autistic sex education presentation for educators across the country and does professional development on LGBTQ+ inclusion in schools. They are extremely passionate about creating inclusive environments for LGBTQ+ students of all ages in all settings.

At the core of Dylan’s teaching is the understanding that all students can show up as their full selves and be supported in their learning not despite who they are, but because of it. They meet each student exactly where they are as part of their team.
