Hannah Boysko
Hannah (she/they) graduated from Barnard College with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Education. Studying intersectional feminist histories inspired Hannah to teach critical thinking and start to pursue certification as a history teacher. As an Education student, Hannah spent multiple semesters in NYC DOE history and science 7-12th grade classrooms observing and assistant teaching. She also spent her time volunteering as a health peer educator for other college students and working as a babysitter and tutor. Hannah’s passion for the exploration, play, and social emotional learning at summer camps led her to pivot from the teaching certification path to working in afterschool, summer camp, and field trip settings.
For the next seven years, Hannah worked in both NYC DOE classrooms and third spaces as an educator, tutor, curriculum creator, and program manager. Each organization that Hannah worked at (Writopia Lab, Gitano Garden, and City Growers) centers their teaching approach around asking questions, creating hands-on experiences, and fostering a positive relationship with their respective content areas of creative writing and food education. These strategies have become integral to Hannah’s teaching approach and to their own learning.
In addition to Hannah’s work with youth and program staff at these organizations, Hannah had the privilege of supporting a DOE-certified professional development course for English Language Arts teachers and an eight month long beekeeping course for adults through Brooklyn Grange Rooftop Farms. Ask Hannah about catching a honeybee swarm on an elementary school rooftop!
It was in the midst of this work that Hannah was diagnosed with ADHD at age 27 and launched into a world of learning about their own neurodivergence. Hannah knows firsthand how mysterious and challenging it can be to develop executive functioning skills or learn more about a topic that feels inaccessible to you. She strongly believes in the transformative abilities of having the proper tools, knowledge, and support. Hannah can’t wait to connect (and learn) with you!
